About Me Paragraph: Hello, my name is Ms. Maritz. This is my second year teaching 6th grade English Language Arts and Social Studies. I am very passionate about teaching, and helping others grow into independent life-long learners with excellent critical thinking skills. I was given the opportunity to work in Lancaster School District and have worked six years at Antelope Valley College as a Master Writing Tutor. I am a graduate of California State University, Bakersfield, which is where I earned both my BA in English and my Single-Subject Teaching Credential.

Mission Statement: My mission as a teacher is to facilitate my students in obtaining high levels of critical thinking skills. I want all scholars that I work with to be able to take what they learn in the classroom, and use it for their futures. Collectively, we will be analyzing, synthesizing, and predicting information. Critical thinking is essential to daily life; no matter what a scholar decides to pursue they will be using these crucial skills, and I am here to help bring these skills out from within them.
